How do you think she would react to changing schools? Of my three kids, each would react much differently to changing schools and having to make new friends. From one for whom it would be devastating to one who would be fine with it and jump right in to the new school. Have you asked her what she would think about changing schools? Or how she feels about being the only non-white child? (I realize she is only 6, but my impression is she is a very mature 6.)

Also, is the district becoming any more diverse? Do you know anything about the demographics of the 1-6 school? Our high schools are not diverse at all, but with each new class of kindergarteners our schools are becoming much more racially diverse. I worry much less now about my younger two than I did a couple years ago. The number of different ethic backgrounds and number of internationally adopted children in our district has skyrocketed in the last couple years.

Now the comment 'But Annie thinks she is caucasian so she will be fine' is scary though! Was this from a teacher? Administrator?

I don't know what I would do, but those were the things that came to mind.
