My husband and I are just starting this journey. We have three children of our own, ages 10, 7, and 6. We've been considering fostering for about a year and have finally decided to do it.
We're both as equally excited about fostering. As many others have stated, the unknown is scary. We've got family members involved with fostering, and we've seen the ups and downs that they've experienced. I am concerned with the good-bye aspect of it. And how it will affect our children. But I truly feel that this is something that we are meant to do.
I am having a hysterectomy next week, and we begin our classes on Feb. 3. We've not really talked about foster to adopt...we both feel that we are focusing on the "foster" part right now. But, I can't say that if we ever are given the opportunity to adopt that we wouldn't. Especially since there are no more bio babies for us in the future!
