We have been sent a brief letter from the FC's caseworker for each placement that was addressed to WIC and indicating the FC name and date of placement. So far, they are the only ones who have asked for proof of the placement. In each case, however, WIC just asked to see the letter, not to retain it in their files. I then carry that letter in my purse just in case I ever need any documentation. I figure it still shows they're placed with me even though it's addressed to WIC.

When you take them to the doctor's office, be sure to tell them you are not the guarantor of the medical bills. They ALWAYS try to set it up that way and seem so confused when I tell them not to. Even though we state we aren't guarantors on the initial patient forms when we bring them in the first time, they keep on sending us bills -- but I ignore them. Then, when I get their MA card several weeks later, I call the office to give them the account number. So far, we've not been sent to collections!
