Considering Adopting Medically Fragile Child
I've been a lurker on this board ever since we got licensed for foster/adopt in our state, and now I have a question for y'all. I just put in our home study for a sibling group from a different state than I am in. The little boy is medically fragile and will require major medical care for the rest of his life. What I am wondering is, since these kids are from out of state, will they still be eligible for Medicaid until they are 18? I know that if I adopted from our state foster care the child would have a subsidy and Medicaid until they turned 18, but I don't know how it works when you adopt from foster care from out of state. I never thought that I would even consider straight adoption like this, but these kids caught my heart when I saw them, but I know we would need help with the medical care. Would we still get help from our state even though they were adopted from a different state? I hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can help me make sense of it all! Thanks!
