If you & your children are scared becuase a young black man is tying his shoes in the driveway I hope you can instill in them that the color of a persons skin shouldn't make them (or you) scared. If it were my son in your driveway I'd be offended by the assumption he was there to rob or cause anybody harm. If "white" or "asian" or "hispanic" were written as part of the description I'd be just as offended. You'd run a human being over for walking up to your car? Any person or just a teenage male? Could you drive off? (around the person)
Again - if the suspects in the robberies are described as African American teen, male I'd report suspicious activities. I live in a diverse neighborhood so a black teen male walking down the street is not cause for alarm.
