We live in a small to medium town/city and our son's birthparents and birthbrother live in the next town over. Once my husband saw (but didn't bump into) the birthfather at a local mall and once my daughter realized she was serving them at the bakery she worked at. She knew this because our son's birthbrother has a unique name and when my daughter saw the boy she could tell right away they were related. She hadn't met the birthparents before, but when she described them to us we were able to confirm it was them (he is super tall and she has super long hair).
I have also discovered that my mom's friend knows someone who knows them and so we hear updates through that grapevine from time-to-time (the bparents have chosen to be out of contact with us for a few years now).
So, even if you don't ever have direct contact, it is possible that there may be connections or 'sightings'.
