I'm usually just trying to save something, even if we only have 1 or 2 coupons on a specific trip. Big stock up trips are when I really get myself super organized and set out to save a lot more.

I've seen the ladies (and gents) with tons of coupons and a cart full of food for like $30, but I've noticed that they stock up on specifics (with several coupons for specific items that are on sale. Read the coupons fine print some are one per purchase and some are one coupon per item..where you can have 5 items and 5 coupons.) AND they generally don't mind brand bouncing and buying "what's on sale" compared to me where I can't just buy to buy given food allergies that I have. My choices are a bit more limited, but even still I do pretty ok with coupons!

Looking at it as a small hobby is a good way to get started. You'll start seeing $$$ then it's just second nature to keep doing it
