With our ds, we were at his birth (went to meet his birthmom and she went into labor) so we actually didn't discuss "match meeting" ideas (how often we'd visit, etc.) until when he was 3 weeks old. He was with from the moment he was born. With our dd, we matched in early Sept. and she was born in late Nov., so that match was 2.5 mos. Each had its own dramas and thrills, with the last-minute situation being pretty overwhelming but a much shorter time to worry and the 2.5-month match being wonderful for bonding but scary because we knew that our dd's birthmom could still change her mind and choose to parent. Actually, with that situation, our bond helps a great deal when dd's birthmom had PPD after her birth and was moderately unsure of her decision. Birthmom could then focus on the reasons she had made her choice intially and ride through her emotional concerns with her comfort/love for us. We are very close with both families still. susan
