We don't put them in their rooms. If they choose to go there to "finish" in their space, then I feel it makes it more empowering to them/not scary. They don't like that option, though, because no one's watching.
If they don't go to their room, we leave the room.
Either way - no audience. I think that's the key, not so much where. They need to know and do know exactly what to expect...which is especially important with 2 who may be having a tantrum at the same time!
