My husband and I adopted our son in 2005 from Korea. The blood issue did come up as Andrea mentioned (hi Andrea small world). The weird thing is that it did not come up until after we received our referral and were waiting for our travel call. It turns out that the social worker in Korea heard about a case where a young child was in a car accident and died and of course the papers said it was because his parents refused to give him a blood transfusion. We did get input from a brother who serves on the hospital liaison committee and were able to work with the adoption agency to come up with a resolution that everyone felt comfortable with.

We are currently in the process of adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia and are waiting for our referral. All of our paperwork has been approved!

Both adoptions for us have been nothing but positive. Even with the drama we faced the first time, the adoption agency was really nice and they wanted us to get our son you could tell. Bottom line is agencies want solid families that will give a children a stable, loving environment. I wish you the best in whatever you choose.

Lauren
