I am a CASA/GAL and I have a few suggestions for getting in touch with the important people on the case. First of all, if you have a lawyer, your lawyer should be privy to who the GAL or CASA is. Your lawyer should find out immediately. You can try calling the Clerk's office in your county to get the name of the GAL (if there is one appointed - not all cases get them). Also if you talk to the foster parent, ask her if there is one. If there is a GAL, write a letter to him/her and make sure he/she gets it. When I write my recommendations to the court, I use any and all documentation in my hand at the time. I would not rely on the caseworker to hand over your contact info . . .
