In TX we can get daycare assistance for licensed approved daycares. It is a pain sometimes to get the sw in gear, but worth it! We live in a small rural town that has 3 licensed centers that accept CCS funding. One of the centers is awful--I got the kids out as quickly as I could. One I never tried. One I wanted to use had an outstanding violation and CPS wouldn't allow me to put our little girl there.

In the end, I opted to pay for her care. Her brother is in Head Start.

BTW--all assistance is given to the kids, not to the foster families, so they are nearly always automatically eligible, just like WIC and free lunch. Also, when you get called for a placment, tell them up front that you will need CCS money (or whatever it's called in your state.). The only problem we've had with it, other than slow sw, is that the fund can run out toward the end of the fiscal year.
