I have said the following to many similar questions from married friends...
"Do you love your DH?" answer: "Oh, YES"
"Well, do you share a biological connection with him?" (I sure hope not!)
To me, it helps explain the deep love you have without the bio connection. Otherwise, people have a hard time "getting it."
