FWIW i'd never bought a pair of glasses from a Lenscrafters, but i went in to look once because my frames got bad (one of the stems fell off, one of the nose pieces had come off), and while i wear contacts i like to have a backup pair of glasses. i thought they might have them fairly cheap. In speaking with the woman who asked to help me, she suggested i bring my old glasses in and they would fix them free of charge, even though i hadn't bought them there.
The put on new nose pads and a new stem. They didn't have a perfect match in the color but they did a really nice job. i remembered it later and went back to them for new glasses, which was probably their plan all along

. But unless things vary widely by store or they've changed dramatically in the last few years, they might be able to fix them at cost or even for free, especially for a child in need.
