I think small personal gifts are fine. With that said I usually give our sitter a cash "holiday bonus" roughly equivilant to 1 weeks pay. I think that is quite a bit, but she is totally AWESOME and goes out of her way for us all the time. For her the best gift is being able to give her family "a little more" for Christmas.
