I have done butternut, acorn, and banana squash. It is super easy to make. Cut it in half, scrape out any seeds with a spoon. Put the squash cut side down in a baking dish with an inch or 2 of water and bake at 350. Poke it with a fork every so often. Once it is soft, take it out, cool it, scrape the squash out of the skin and puree it. Save the water you baked with to use for thinning.
This is one of my favorites to make because it is so easy!
