A Med Alert bracelet or necklace should be worn by anyone who has a condition which should be IMMEDIATELY known by an EMT if there was ever an emergency.
You do not have to go through a doctor if you don't want to. Most pharmacies have order brochures. Personally, I use American Medical (website below) for my ID needs. I like their selection. I've had good service and their prices are reasonable.
