What you said makes a great deal of sense.

I know my example seemed extreme, but believe it or not, it is a situation my friend found herself in, but as a mom who already has 3 children (her husband skipped town and didn't look back), not as one who is expecting.

But it makes me wonder, because here she was - lost her home, had no job because she was a SAHM for 10 years...no income coming in, but no assistance because FOC said she was supposed to be receiving child support, etc. etc.

And it made me think about women/girls who truly have NO resources, and how it's not easy to get assistance right now...and how if they aren't placing with an agency or someone who will help them...they MUST feel hopeless!

And you're right - there is a big difference between baby gadgets and basic necessities.
