Ibuprofen works much better for my son than tylenol. We're dealing with the same thing. My son got in 2 teeth in August and has 4 coming in right now.
Have you tried any baby orajel? My son has a hard time handling secretions anyway, so it didn't work great for him. It might for healthy kids though.
