We shy away from the cartoon variety (though I kinda like Veggie Tales, as do the kids). (This will certainly show my age, I know).....but have you considered showing some of the old Christmas favorites? I suspect your little one is very young, but even my 'almost two year old' really enjoys the Shirley Temple videos. (Yep, surprised me too.)
And, there's always the added benefit of the songs in some of them. To me (and my kids would agree) some of the best Christmas shows are White Christmas (Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye) , Holiday Inn (Bing Crosby), The Lemon-Drop Kid (Bob Hope), and Meet Me in St. Louis (Judy Garland and many others).
Those are just the musical ones they love---and they're now 7yrs, 5yrs and almost 2yrs.
Ones w/o musical numbers your child might like would be the Charlie Brown Christmas (and that DOES have great music themes), as well as anything from Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, etc...
I know a lot of us think kids will only watch shows with flash and dash to them---but I think you'd be very surprised with a lot of kids. The oldies have a very soothing effect, without the loud, scarey stuff that's seen so much today! (Gads, I tire of it.... sigh)
(I continue to dislike INTENSELY the Grinch, because I think it's a VERY scarey character for many children.---let's remember the original cartoon Grinch had the voice of Boris Karloff....who played the infamous Frankenstein!!!! THAT creeped me out as a kid!)
I hope this might help. Give it a try. You might be very pleasantly surprised...
Sincerely,
Linny
