It has been a long time since I have checked in. But I am a voyeur enough to know about Jemmawag's diagnosis, The Ferrick Family's sweet Bella and her battle, and assorted other news. Mountainmama, I am always eager to hear your husabnd is okay! My thoughts are always with you all, whether you are still fighting for your children or have them home!
I brought my sweet Angelica home December 5, almost a year ago. She is a complete JOY! Below are a couple of my favorite photos (the family one is from my Celebrate Adoption photographer...let me know if you are in Dallas - she's awesome!!)
So here is my news. On October 1...a day I will never forget...I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I am HER2+, estrogen/progestone negative, with a high proliferation index (over 20%). My tumor is 3 inches......yes, 3 inches in size. Bizarre because my boobs are not that big.
Even more bizarre is my committment to annual mammograms. It never showed up, even on my last one in March. I urge you all to demand an MRI if you have dense breast tissue, even you Miami Bob.
I have to have 6 months of chemo and other drugs to shrink it before a double mastectomy and total lymph node removal in the spring.
I am a single mom to 2 absolutely AMAZING children from Guatemala. I know that God will provide for us during this time. I am off work and spending all my time and energy on getting well.
