Don't want to be an alarmist, but my oldest daughter used to get nosebleeds on occasion. But one time she had one that would NOT stop. We ended up at the doctor's office. He packed it, did a blood test, and sent us directly to the hospital. She had thrombocytopenia and was in the hospital for five days, getting transfusions of platelets. So, a visit to the pediatrician would not be the act of a paranoid mother.
