Totally can understand your concerns about Autism. I am on an Autism team at work specifically assisitng parents and professionals on how to best work with children with Autism. There are some things that you can look for with your child. There is actually a checklist for autism in toddlers to see if there are some tendency/characteristics towards it. As for why we are seeing it more today.... you need to remember that in the world of psychology/medicine it is a newer diagnosis and as professionals have learned more about it they have become better at diagnosising it.
