What about a picture frame with a pic of the person and your kids or just your kids. There are pretty nice inexpensive pic frames at Walmart for $3-$6.
Or have the kids bake cookies and put them in a decorative bag that you can buy at the dollar store.
Good luck! We aren't doing ANY gifts for adults this year. We may do the pink elephant thing, where you find something nice unused in your house wrap it up and everyone draws #'s, you open your gifts, and you can steal someone else's gift instead of opening one. just a thought too - it can actually be pretty fun and doesn't cost a cent!
