My dd age 11 has terrible excema on her arms and legs. Our experience has been that you need to keep switching up the creams. We did hydrocortisone 1% then had to go to 2%. That stopped working and I bought a generic lotion for excema at our grocery store (literally called excema lotion) which has been working amazingly well for almost 4 months (knock on wood). Of course moisturizing after(not too warm)baths and even more than that helps immensely. Our ped also told DD to drink lots of water to keep her skin hydrated. That's worked so well for her that she can only have juice or soda if her arms are looking good. Once they start getting red and itchy we can tell she's been slacking on the water consumption.
