hi there and welcome! We're always looking to add more Dad's to the mix!!!

In short. Mommamarci is exactly right! We started our adoption journey in 2007, but could not claim any of that when we filed in 2008. We adopted in Jan of this year and just finalized, so we'll claim everything from 2007 and 2008 when we file our 2008 taxes in Feb 2009. Had we NOT adopted or not finalized in 2008, we could have claimed those 2007 expenses on our 2008 taxes, but not anything paid in 2008. So unless you are finalized all expense are held back a year seems to be the simple way to say it

I also wanted to let you know that there is talk of the tax credit ending in 2010. If that is something you are sure you would qualify for and would make a difference in your financial planning, I would look into that.

Best of Luck! Hope you'll come back for more than financial help...this site is a great resource
