Can I make a suggestion about finding an attorney?
You need an attorney who is VERY experienced in what are called dependency and neglect (foster care) cases. Do not just get a regular family law attorney. They don't know what they're doing, and the law is very intricate and difficult in this area.
My suggestion would be to find out if your state has something like the Office of the Child's Representative. If so, get a list of guardians ad litem, and see if one of them who is not already involved in this case will represent you.
If that doesn't work, you can also contact your local or state foster parent association, and ask somebody there for a referral to an experienced D&N lawyer.
