We adopted one out of four from our local children's services as a foster-to-adopt. We were both in our 40's at the time. We were placed with another child who had been in foster care in another county (in Ohio) when she was 2 as a straight adoption because I had gotten to know the worker and she remembered us when our daughter was to be matched. The other two were private. I'd say your chances are very good. Don't give up. Get a good homestudy done, tell EVERYONE you know that you want to adopt -- your hairdresser, everyone. You could get an identified situation (someone knows someone who is wanting to place). It happens all the time. Otherwise, don't waste any time. Get that homeestudy done and out there! Best wishes.
