It has taken me one month to even think about posting this as it is so painful. Our journey began for Emma in April of 2007 and as of yesterday officially it is over...she will never be coming home to us.

After having received the great news that our case had exited PGN successfully and having received a copy of the adoption decree we were told several weeks later that the PGN had decided to re-open and investigate the case as some fraud was suspected and that our adoption decree had basically been nullified.

The PGN took Emma from her Foster Mother and she now lives in an orphanage. This put me over the edge....she lost the only person that she was attached to. The atty fought to get the FM VISITATION...not custody but visitiation and the judge said NO.

The DNA was 99.9% positive so we know the birthmom is the birthmom...but she apparently forged some doc(s)...we have no idea what. So the fact that she relinquished her means nothing. Now the birthmom will be investigated and charged with falsifying docs and if the judge sees fit...Emma may some day be able to be adopted by someone in Guatemala.

Our pursuit to bring Emma home is over and I am saddened beyond words. The daughter that I had seen grow every month in pictures, the daugher I visited and held and loved will never come home. My heart hurts. Some days it is hard to breathe....I have lost a child and my daughter has lost her sister. Which she cannot comprehend at the age of 4. She cries almost everyday and asks why her sister Emma cannot come home and I tell her everytime that I know it is confusing but the people in Guatemala said that Emma could come home but then they changed their mind and we do not know why but Mommy and Daddy did everything possible to make it happen. I also tell her that Emma will have a family in Guatemala and that she will be ok. She needs to believe that and quite frankly so do I.
