We have some friends who adopted a sib set, 6 & 8 years old. The little girl going into 3rd grade and the 1st grade brother would be entering their 4th elementary school at the start of this school year. They homeschool their 11 year old daughter already.
Their adoption was to be finalized in September and they requested to homeschool the kids. Keep in mind, they were talking about a month before the adoption was finalized.
The CW told them no. They contacted her boss, were told no. They then contacted a regional director who looked into it and were told maybe.
The regional director looked into it some more, and called amom on the first day of school and told her it would be fine to homeschool the kids.
The point is: don't take no the first time you hear it. Ask for a reason and don't take no until you have a good reason. Our friends started asking the day they brought the kids into their home 6 months before adoption.
