Wow, we are going to be on edge for the next month. We knew that our dd's birthmom was pregnant and due soon, but we just got a call from her a few days ago, asking if we would take this baby too. The baby is due 11/21. She said she wanted to wait to call us until she was sure with her decision. She says that we are the only people she wants to have this baby, and if we don't take him, she will keep him, but feels she can't. We are ecstatic, because we were trying to figure out how we were going to have another baby. The birthmom is in a tough situation, because her other 2 kids were taken away by DHS and this baby's father has a restraining order against him for abuse and he uses drugs, etc....

The problem is that the father does not want this baby put up for adoption. They live in FL, and he was served his 30 days to contest on Monday. So, he has a chance to prove that he will take care of mom and baby before birth and after and that he has a stable job and everything, all done through the court system. He wants the baby and so does his mom. But he is going to stand trial soon for abusing a pregnant woman and trying to keep her from dialing 911 (all with her other 2 kids watching).

The agency we used is involved, but say that they can do absolutely nothing until the father's 30 days are up. They can't help the mother in any way and can't make an adoption plan until that happens. His 30 days will be up a week before this baby is due!!!!!!!! Our dd came a week early, and her other 2 babies came right around the due date or a week early.

OMG, we could have a baby boy in a month! We are so excited, but so worried that the father will fight this. And we can do nothing. We are going ahead and completing a new homestudy, because we want to be prepared in case, but how are we going to make it through the next 27 days??????
