Just wanted to say make sure you talk to an attorney who HAS worked with that specific tribe as they can give you the best answer. In Oklahoma, they do a search and if any of the birth-GRANDPARENTS are registered, even if they chose to not be a part of the tribe and therefore did not enroll their children, some tribes still consider the tribal link intact. For ICPC in Oklahoma they actually have a tribal liason and you provide the family names as far back as you can and they search to make sure you wont have any issues later on and that the ICWA laws have been abided by.

good luck !
