Finding out if someone you know is in care?
This is inspired by the other post "I Made The Call". My sister knows my husband and I are going through our home study (in fact she's my family reference). She drove a school bus for 5 years, and now she drives a daycare bus. She has 4 children, 2 in high school and 2 in elementary school.
i spoke with her on the phone yesterday, and she said one of her former coworkers (school bus drivers) told her that three children my sister knew well had been taken into custody about a week previous. The father is an alcoholic who has been unemployed for years, and allegedly on the girl's 13th birthday, he beat all of the children. The other 2 are boys in high school.
My sister has taken these kids under her wing for a couple of years, taking them shopping and such. She is very interested in being their foster parent if they are in need of foster care. They have some relatives out of state.
i advised she call the county worker and tell her that if these children are, in fact, in custody, that they can call her if they need anything, like a foster home. Perhaps this was wrong? Is there a better suggestion?
