We orignally wanted a girl(s). Now that we have two boys, I can't imagine it any other way.
I heard too that the theory is the loss of genetic continuity. I heard too that it was men who had the most difficulty with the issue. (not sure I agree .. its just what I heard.)
A nod to my father-in-law -- we originally were told the birthmother we matched with was having a girl. When we told my in-laws that she found out it was a boy my FIL said "Great. Now we have someone to carry on the family name." I will never forget that. It was such an instinctual reaction, I knew he would accept our child and I had no reason to worry he (DS)would be treated any different by his grandpa. (Now if the boy can't play sports, that will be a different story.)
