When you say there is no record…what are you basing this on? I gather you have checked with the state officials, and they tell you there is no record?
If that’s the case…many years ago, private adoptions weren’t reported…there was no “record” created…it was just a lawyer and a family court judge. You’d have to have information on the lawyer, and then contact his office.
I was adopted this way…and the only record of my adoption is the court docket from the family court proceedings. There was also a copy of my original birth certificate in the “file”, but my birthmother and adoptive parents falsified it with the assistance of their legal counsel.
It’s sad to say, but there are cases out there that were handled illegally…had it not been for an inquisitive half-bio-sibling, I may have never been able to have any information about my birth relatives…
