I'll tell ya what:
I've yet to see too many divisions of DCF that DO notice older couples....UNLESS they're really, really wanting to place children they can't find homes for otherwise. I hate to say that, but long ago we saw this....
IF you're wanting to do a private adoption....at least in IL, you have to have a homestudy done FROM a private agency. I have NO idea what the difference is between a DCF and agency homestudy....but there IS, because this is what we---and everyone else we know moving into private agency adoption have found to be true. (Ridiculous, isn't it?)
At any rate, I fully understand that wanting to experience the newborn. I can tell you right now, your ages---as far as infant adoptions (privately) are NOT a big issue. And, if you're wanting an AA baby, or multi-racial baby......you'll not wait as long either.
Of course, adopting from an agency WILL require $$...not only for the homestudy, but for the legals and finals as well. And, once you have that homestudy conducted by an agency, you can 'take' it anywhere (or you SHOULD be able to take it anywhere). With that, you can apply with several agencies and adoption attorneys to hopefully lessen your wait.
I wish you luck in this. PLEASE feel free to pm me if I can be of any help to you. We've BTDT.
Sincerely,
Linny
