One thing to think about when considering abortion... Women have ALWAYS had access to abortions or relied on abortifacents to deal with unplanned pregnancies. Ever since the dawn of mankind (or womankind, depending on our point of reference.)

Has anyone here ever seen the results of an illegal abortion that has been botched by some amateur, or a subsequent uterine infection from the abortionist not using sterile instruments?? I have ~ it is a horrible thing to witness. I saw a young woman die in a hospital I was working at many years ago in New Mexico. She and her husband did not have the money to have a doctor perform the abortion, so they turned to a midwife. By the time she made it into our ER, the infection was so far advanced that she didn't respond to the antibiotics. It's a horrible, ugly way to die, and I hope I never have to see that again.

I don't jump up and down for abortions. I think that decision must rest on the shoulders of the woman and her physician, however. I don't think the government has any business responding to religious groups when formulating policy and laws. Go ahead and flame... Just my two cents worth...
