Right around the fourth of July I had this hankering to learn to knit so I picked up a book at JoAnn's and taught myself over the weekend.
My first 2 projects were hats for the VikingPirate. He'd wanted a "Jayne Hat" (as seen in the TV show Firefly) for awhile and I agreed that I'd make him one. Found a pattern online and everything.
The 1st one was done in an alternate color scheme because I was still practicing and needed to size up the pattern because his head is huge. I sized it up a bit too much and the hat is uber tall, but other than that it looks nice. The 2nd one was in the actual colors from the show and I sized it pretty close to right.
But now I'm stymied. I don't know what to make next. I fiddled with teaching myself socks for awhile but just didn't have my heart in it... And while I'm sure I could do an easy scarf, it seems silly when I'm moving to a place with an average temperature of 80 something.
Any suggestions?
