You can use hydrocortisone on infants and toddlers but only for 2-3 days...never any longer.

Kids absorb medications through their skin at a much greater rate than adults because they have a greater body surface area compared to their weight. Topical steriods can suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Used long term, topical steriods can suppress growth and development....this is straight from my most recent pharmacology textbook.

So use the LOWEST available strength and use sparingly in short durations.

PS. My favorite diaper mix is Lotrimin, Desitin, Vaseline, and cornstarch. Thankfully, Trey is now potty trained.
