My son didn't say one word at 18 months and when I called Early Intervention they old me he should be saying 50 to 100 words at 18 months and by 2 years should be saying 2 word sentences. They assessed his speech at equivalent to a 7 month olds. We now have 3 different therapists coming to our house every week to help.
Trust your instinct. Early Intervention is awesome and is soooooo helpful. It certainly cannot hurt to get an assessment!
