We completed a independant domestic adoption in WA state just a little less than a year ago. The first thing is to gather information. We started out by talking with another couple we knew that adopted two children, one through a agency and one independantly. Their experience led us to think that we would prefer to pursue independant adoption. We then contacted an adoption attorney whom met with us free of charge and really laid out the whole process and was able to answer many of our questions.
