I think electric fences for dogs just make them "yip" as they run out of the yard, and then they're afraid to go back IN the yard because they don't want to get shocked again!
I bet the same would apply for chickens if they had an electric fence.
I hit a deer for the first time this year - some doo-dah planted a big turnip patch (aka deer candy) right by the road - a county highway with lots of hills and turns and no lighting..... Thanks, genius!
