I am a big fan of letting boys (and girls) play with WHATEVER they want (safe of course!)

I had a nephew that LOVED to carry a purse around. Drove his Dad nuts. But that nephew just loved to collect things, and it was too hard for him to get stuff (and his hands!) in and out of his pockets. He eventually loved his backpack for the same reason.

Dolls are great too and all my nephews have played with dolls when expecting a new baby in the family.
