I am so frustrated with this state I am about to give up.
So, here's the story,we are set up to take medically fragile infants, CW called and asked us to take a baby with a tracheotomy, after we accepted placement we received a call back from the CW stating that the hospital SW was concerned about the placement because we live so rural, we live in a small rural town of about 1700 people, so they decided to place the baby in the bigger town closer to the children's hospital. Less than 10 minutes later the county calls about another placement for us, we accept this placement and about an hour later the first CW calls back about the first baby saying they have changed their minds, I tell her that I have already accepted another baby but will call that SW and make sure it is a go. The SW says it is a for sure and it will be definately be a long term placement. So I call the other worker back, she is disappointed but she understands. Fast forward 5 days, I receive a phone call telling me that they are moving my medically fragile infant to the home of some friends of the parents that are willing to take all four siblings, they are not even foster parents and have no training for the baby, plus they will have the three others. The SW worker states that she knows the baby should stay with me but the parents are willing to go to treatment if these friends are able to take placement of the kids. What??? I am so frustrated with this kind of logic. I feel so bad about the placement I turned down, I am going to call her SW tomorrow and see if they found a placement for her or if she is still in the hospital. Just needed to vent.
