I point out my daughters' brown skin when we are talking about colors. What else do you see that is brown? Your leg is brown. My hair is brown. Etc.
I am so glad that we have an opportunity to talk about this within our own family, so that by the time they are cognizant of differences between them and "others," they will be fully aware that as far as we're concerned, brown skin is just as precious as chubby cheeks and tickly toes.
