That is such a cute story.
The last time I talked to my dad, he got almost teary and told me that he really doesn't care what race our baby is and that he is so excited at the thoughts of an AA grandchild. He was very urgent in letting me know that even if other people care it doesn't matter because my immediate family is so okay with it and he just wanted us to know that they support us 100%. I have a nephew who is hispanic/CC and my dad is extremely close to him--he said that he doesn't even see his color and doesn't think twice about it and wanted me to know that he feels the same about our child. It was very special to me to hear him say that--even though I already knew it, there's something about my relationship with my dad and him confessing to emotion that makes me fall to pieces.
