Your great-grannie's chicken gizzards story reminded me of my grandmother's love for chicken gizzards. She used to pickle them, and they were the most mouth-watering delight! I loved them. YUM!!!
PS: I've always wanted to write a book about my grandmother and early Texas history. I would title it "Gizzards and Gumption".

Dang it! My parents coulda saved a fortune had I gone to a school with a free popcorn bar nearby. All our local pub offered was free salted beer nuts and I hate those.
My Great Granny and Pa-Pa lived in Crockett, Tx. and she had this huge ranch/farm place that was over run with chickens and pigs. I can never remember visiting her and not eating chicken gizzards, smothered of course. My kids won't even discuss gizzards they certainly wouldn't dream of eating them. During my pregnancy recently my iron was very low until I started smothering chicken liver and gizzards every other day.
The book sounds like a great title; go ahead and I'll have a couple of stories to contribute. You made my day. Tracy
