We too kept Curtis on the bottle for longer than conventional wisdom in hte U.S. as it was comforting to him in a time of much change. I simply nodded when some friends would say "you know you should not have him on a bottle now that he is past one" as everyone who said that had not been through the adoption epxerience. He came home at 8.5 months and was bottle fed until 19 months. I cannot really explain, I just felt he and I were both emotionally ready to give up the bottle after he was home 10 months.
