I tell people that it is truley us who are eternally grateful for the gift that are my kids. I also tell them that it is US who are grateful for thier beautiful birthparents....for choosing us, for trusting us.
I am never rude, because they don't mean it rudely. But I do get irritated.
Oh yeah...except for those that say I am a hero specifically because my kid's are black & I am white. Oh yeah...then the beast comes out. LOL
