I requested a plain-clothes detective (my FS would have been petrified of a police officer--biomom had him convinced HE would be arrested too for some of her actions and drug use). I also requested a female as he was very untrusting of males (including my husband for the first 3-4 months he was here).
I asked to be able to call first on the way there and park in back use the backdoor.
They did everything I asked. The female detective met us and took FS right into interview room. He never really realized he was at the police dept.
I was honest though and told him that he had to tell his story to someone besides me. I told him they WOULD believe him and to just tell the truth. I told him it was important because that person wanted to write it down and maybe record his voice so that it would help other kids. He seemed ok with this.

Former foster son came this past weekend for his birthday celebration and one last hoorah before school starts. I was happy to see him doing better.
